FAQs & Public Service Tips: Alumni & Retirees

Info and tips for helping Sims Library users.

For Alumni and Retirees

Southeastern alumni and retirees may come to Sims Library and use any of our resources as a "guest." Since they will likely have W numbers, they may only need to re-set their old passwords to access the Library computers (VMs

Only current Southeastern students and employees have remote access to Sims Library's online resources, which permit you to login from home. This is not a Southeastern or Library policy. For each database / electronic resource the Library acquires, the University President has to sign an official license agreement issued by the publisher/vendor.  The license agreement specifies who is considered an authorized user, and almost always it is defined as a current employee or student.  If the University violates that agreement and allows access to unauthorized users, our license can be revoked and our access to the database can be denied.  Additionally, depending on the circumstances, the vendor can choose to pursue legal action against the University.

Southeastern Alumni

Alumni have the following privileges:

  • Active alumni are members of the Southeastern Alumni Association who are current on annual dues or graduates with 365 days of their commencement.
  • When an Alum pays their dues, they receive a new number from Campus Card Operations. That number will be used by the Library for circulation privileges.
  • access to the Library's public computers (VMs) with their W#
  • print in the Library's labs if they purchase a Print Card from the Circulation Desk
  • Alumni CAN log into campus STF labs but cannot print.  If they need to print, they need to go to the Library so they can pay for the prints.
  • access the SLU-Guest wifi
  • check out up to ten eligible items for a period of 28 days.
