Netiquette & Digital Citizenship

The communication rules of etiquette and manners in the networked environment are called netiquette.  They provide guidance in how we communicate in email, on list servs, in social media or blogs, and online journals.

Digital citizenship includes wider concerns about networked communication: access, commerce, communication, literacy, etiquette, law, rights and responsibilities, health and security. These concepts continue to evolve as electronic communication evolves.

College students communicating for coursework or with University faculty and staff should be knowledgeable about the limitations of communicating digitally and aware of basic online manners.

Additionally, Southeastern has established an E-mail Policy and a Responsible Computing Policy.
