Upcoming Appearance of Yusef Komunyakaa at Southeastern Louisiana University

UPDATE: The English Department will host a series of presentations on themes in Komunyakaa's creative works to build anticipation for the author's upcoming appearance on October 24, 2013. NOTE: Official dates are listed below.

Student submissions for presentations on October 24 are now being accepted until October 16! Visit the Reading Lives website for more information. Students can submit essays or presentations and original artwork including a dance, song, or music composition, film, video, photograph, visual art, or literature (poem, story, or drama). Group or individual submissions are accepted and can be sent to readinglives@selu.edu

  • September 24, 2 p.m. (DVIC 210) - Jack Bedell and Norman German present on "Louisiana Poems (Magic City)"
  • October 2, 2 p.m. (DVIC 210) - Alison Pelegrin presents on "Myth"
  • October 8, 2 p.m. (DVIC 210) - Francis Broussard, Paul Crawford, and Mary Sue Ply present on "Vietnam"
  • October 9, 2 p.m. (DVIC 210) - Reine Bouton and Richard Louth present on "Jazz"
  • October 16, 2 p.m. (DVIC 210) - Martin Kearney and Jayetta Slawson present on "Gilgamesh"

Note: The English Department will welcome Yusef Komunyakaa to campus on October 24, 2013. Official events and times will be forthcoming. NOTE: the October 24 events will take place in the Student Union Theater.
