NAACP -- The mission of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People is to ensure the political, educational, social, and economic equality of rights of all persons and to eliminate race-based discrimination.

The National Urban League -- The National Urban League is a historic civil rights organization dedicated to economic empowerment in order to elevate the standard of living in historically underserved urban communities.

African American History Month -- The Library of Congress, National Archives and Records Administration, National Endowment for the Humanities, National Gallery of Art, National Park Service, Smithsonian Institution and United States Holocaust Memorial Museum join in paying tribute to the generations of African Americans who struggled with adversity to achieve full citizenship in American society.

African American Odyssey -- A special presentation of the Library of Congress, showcasing their collection.

New Orleans African American Museum -- Located in Tremé, the oldest surviving black community in the United States, the New Orleans African American Museum is dedicated to protecting, preserving, and promoting through education the history, art, and culture of African Americans in New Orleans and the African diaspora. Exhibits change regularly, so call ahead to find out what is on display.

Schomburg Center -- Official website of the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture. 

The Root -- The Root is a daily online magazine that provides thought-provoking commentary on today's news from a variety of black perspectives. The site also hosts an interactive genealogical section to trace one's ancestry through AfricanDNA.com, a DNA testing site.

Davey D's Hip Hop Corner -- Davey D is a journalist and Hip Hop activist who is originally from the Bronx and now lives in Oakland where he does a daily radio show -Hard Knock Radio heard on KPFA 94.1 FM and writes a column for the San Jose Mercury news.  Davey D also teaches a class on Hip Hop culture and politics at SF State. He maintains the website

AfriGeneas -- is a site devoted to African American genealogy, to researching African Ancestry in the Americas in particular and to genealogical research and resources in general. It is also an African Ancestry research community featuring the AfriGeneas mail list, the AfriGeneas message boards and daily and weekly genealogy chats.

chronicles of harriet -- A webpage that will educate readers about Steamfunk, a philosophy or style of writing that combines the African and / or African American culture and approach to life with that of the steampunk philosophy and / or steampunk fiction

The Black Science Fiction Society -- The Black Science Fiction Society was created to highlight, celebrate and develop black science fiction, speculative fiction, fantasy & horror. To view written material interested parties will have to sign-up for membership which is free.
