Search Tips

Keyword Search: looks for the word(s) in any order in any of the fields: author, title, subject, notes, publisher. It is a good place to start, but you will probably get a lot of results to look through.

Use Quotations: "knowledge management" will only find items that use that exact term

Use OR: if you don't know what search word the library catalog uses, try several and use OR (teenager OR adolescent OR youth)

Use NOT: Use NOT to eliminate certain words or subject areas (e.g. chocolate NOT cookery - will find books on chocolate, but not cookbooks)

Subject Terms: the library uses the same controlled vocabulary to give subject terms to all its materials. If you find one book on your subject, look at the subject terms for it and search with those. (e.g. Aging-social aspects) You can click on these too - it will take you to all list of all the books in the library on that subject.
