Indexes & Databases

Students will use these Indexes and Databases, provided through Sims Library, to locate peer-reviewed journal articles.

Academic Search Complete-- Indexes, abstracts and provides selected full-text of articles published in scholarly publications from many disciplines.

AltHealthWatch--Indexes and provides full-text coverage of international journals, reports, proceedings, newsletters, pamphlets, and special report from complementary, holistic and integrated approaches to health care and wellness.

Business Source Complete--Indexes, abstracts and provides full-text of articles from magazines and scholarly journals, industrial/technological periodicals, company and industry profiles, country economic data, accounting standards, encyclopedic dictionaries and handbooks.

CINAHL Complete-- Indexes, abstracts and provides selected full-text articles for articles from nursing, allied health, biomedical and consumer health journals, newsletters, standards of practice, practice acts, government publications, research instruments, patient education material, legal cases, clinical innovations, critical paths, drug records, and clinical trials. 

Drug Information Portal--Provides information on over 45,000 prescription and non-prescription drugs including dietary supplements and some investigational medicines. It covers drugs from clinical trials to U.S. FDA approval and also includes some drugs from other countries.

ERIC (EBSCO)-- Indexes and abstracts educational journals and unpublished educational materials. Includes the Resource in Education (RIE) file of document citations, the Current Index to Journals in Education (CIJE) file of journal article citations, the ERIC Digest records featuring the full-text of the original document. The EBSCOhost version of ERIC provides links to full-text for some recent journal articles, (EJ). ERIC documents, (ED), published in recent years may be available in a .pdf file through a hyperlink to the ERIC Document Reproduction Services (EDRS) site. 

Health Source--Indexes health journals and provides full-text for nearly scholarly journals in many medical disciplines. 

Medline -- Indexes scholarly journals and covers all areas of medicine and health sciences (including nursing, allied health and nutrition). Provides links to some full-text articles. 

Mental Measurements Yearbook-- Provides full-text reviews of English-language standardized tests covering educational skills, personality, vocational aptitude and psychology. Corresponds to the print Mental Measurements Yearbooks, 10th ed. (1990) forward.

Physical Education Index -- Indexes peer-reviewed journals, report literature, conference proceedings, trade magazines, patents, articles from the popular press, and other publications that deal with aspects of Physical Education.

ProQuest Education Journals-- Indexes, abstracts and provides full-text journal articles from education journals. 

ProQuest Nursing and Allied Health -- Indexes, abstracts, and provides access to full text journals, evidence based resources, and dissertations pertaining to healthcare information covering nursing, allied health, complementary medicine and much more.

PsycINFO (Psychological Abstracts)-- Indexes and abstracts international scholarly journal articles, chapters, books, technical reports, and dissertations in psychology and related social science disciplines. Provides links to small selection of full-text articles.

Psychology & Behavioral Sciences Collection-- Provides access to full-text publications, including peer-reviewed titles on topics such as emotional and behavioral characteristics, psychiatry & psychology, mental processes, anthropology, and observational and experimental methods.

PubMed --Comprises more than 19 million citations for biomedical articles (including nursing) from MEDLINE and life science journals. Citations may include links to free full-text from PubMed Central or publisher web sites. 

 

Google Scholar

Using Google Scholar: from our on-campus networked computers, links will appear in the Google Scholar results for open-access articles or for aritcles that Southeastner's library licenses. If you do not see a link, check using Publications Finder under eJournals as the links are not always provided.
